Putting on the St. Regis
This Thanksgiving I won't be putting out any turkey or mashed potatoes. Instead I'll be putting on the St. Regis! No kitchen required (except for when I order room service of course!). For that I am extremely grateful but not nearly as grateful as I am for everyone that has made The Closet Interview what it is today. These brave, curious and kind collaborators opened their closet doors and continue to inspire us all!
Don't you wish all Bellhops where this dreamy? When I met Jacobo and Nicolas Solis backstage at the Sulvam SS18 they were pleasant, kind and also exhausted! Milan fashion week is an endless parade of casting calls and last minute announcements. On their Instagram accounts they make it look easy and glamorous. When you can alternate as photographers and directors, it's easy to see why they have been so successful. Power Siblings!
Perhaps I never would have made it to Milan Men's Fashion Week without the help of my friend Sean Swanson. One of my first brave interview subjects! He said it best "Fake it til' you make it and move in with confidence. " He was right of course! I thought of him as I sent out countless press emails and finagled my way to seats on the runway!
I couldn't believe my luck when, after nervously gulping down the refreshing champagne before the Les Hommes SS18 show, I found a front row seat next to Bali Lawal. Incredibly gorgeous and kind, we had a great time taking in the beautiful pierced suits in the menswear show and she filled me in on the ins and outs of Milan Fashion week. An entrepreneur and model that has worked with Armani, Bali is one to watch and someone I look forward to visiting the next time I'm in Milan!
Of course there's nothing more beautiful than autumn in New York. Just ask my friend Patrick McDonald, The Dandy of New York. I can't thank him enough for all his inspiration and being my fashion history tutor and mentor! Patrick's advice would be to continue "Just browsing." I can't think of a better activity for a holiday weekend!
Or if you are lucky enough to score tickets to Hamilton in Chicago, perhaps you will get to see the exquisite and talented Aubin Nicole Wise who has also appeared on Atlanta. I can't wait for the next season to come out!
