Hello, It’s Ann. It’s great to see you Anthony. Can I interview your closet? Sure!
You have a crazy schedule in terms of travel. I couldn’t help but notice that despite traveling from Dublin to Beverly Hills, your clothes are perfectly ironed, and you don’t have a hair out of place. What tips to do you have for packing for an international trip? Haha, thank you…. I fly about 150,000 miles a year… so you pick up a few hacks on how to keep your clothes in good shape. When travelling with suits and jackets, the trick to making it work is good luggage. I have a Rimowa case that has a suit compartment. I couldn’t recommend it more!

How do you decompress after a long flight and prepare for some of your important meetings? When it comes to important meetings, I spend allot of time preparing and even practicing presentations. I try and think of all the ways (good and bad) my meetings can run, so I’m as prepared as possible. I live a very connected life in terms of Instant Messaging and emails back to our Product2Market team in Dublin. They really do all the hard work and make me look good! I’m extremely lucky to work with the folks we have on board. Funny, long flights don’t really bother me… I’m a great sleeper and often doze off just after take-off!
It’s clear from your Instagram feed you have an amazing work/life balance that involves finding time during your business trips to have fun with your daughter Lily. It looks like she is an entrepreneur in the making who is also always dressed for the part! What are some of your favorite memories of traveling with a mini CEO in the making? I’m more of a believer in a work/life blend than a work/life balance... so I always try to find a way involve my family as much as possible. Lily is 7 years old and is very much a global citizen…. It’s crazy, she actually has more friends here in California than I do! She very much has her own sense of style and will only wear the things she thinks are cool. I’m actually not sure if Lily wants to be an entrepreneur or be in business…. she told me recently that she just wants to “work with and help people” when she gets older. Whatever is her path in life I try to instill the values I have…. I tell her everyday to “be bold, be brave and be kind”. She is an amazing little girl, I’m so proud of her …. my life’s greatest gift is getting to be her dad!
Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work out for her to come on all my trips… leaving her behind in Dublin actually tears me up as I hate not to share at least some part of her day. If I could, I’d be the first and last thing she sees everyday …. but I guess that’s not always possible the way I work. Let me see, I’ve so many amazing memories of travelling with Lily ... we’ve managed to fit in lots into her 7 years on Earth. We’ve had a snow fight in Central Park, jumped together into the sea, off a yacht down in Portugal, driven the Pacific Coast Highway with the top down.
What’s your favorite suit and where did you find it? I get my suits, jackets and shirts made by Klein Epstein & Parker (@keprebels) in West Hollywood. It’s a made to measure, boutique tailor and they have a few US locations now and I love shopping there. You get the chance to design unique pieces and pick every detail, but with consultation and advice from their in-store stylists who really do have great taste. I work with a wonderful guy in the store called Garrett Edwards who knows what I like and stops me making any disastrous decisions. I have a light blue suit from those guys that I’ve had great luck when wearing … It’s always with me for my most important meetings.
Do you prefer movies, tv or books? What’s your most recent favorite(s)? I’m more of a movie and books guy … not so much a TV person. I’m never up to speed on the popular series on Netflix. My favorite movie of the last year or two was Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals. The story, acting and cinematography was amazing… if you haven’t seen it, you need to see that movie now!
What did you wear the last time you went out to dinner? I was out to dinner last nite, I wore a black velvet jacket and a white shirt (from Klein Epstein & Parker) some AG Jeans and a pair of Tom Ford shoes (as we are talking clothes, I should let you know.. I’m boarder-line obsessed with Tom Ford and have a total man crush).
Where did you go and what did you order? The Sunset Tower Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood – I love the building, the staff and the ambiance… Its my favorite place in LA. I had the Turkey Chili – amazing!
What is your favorite beverage of choice? I’m a Mojito guy......but if the bar runs out of mint leaves, Pina Coladas work too!
What is your personal theme song/anthem? Not sure I have a personal anthem…. but my favorite song is “With or Without You” by U2 – well I am Irish
Where was the last place you traveled to? Well I’m in California every month (in LA or San Francisco), but my last vacation trip was to the Algarve in Portugal, we were at Quinta do Lago – an amazing resort, you should try to get out there.
What was your favorite part of the trip and what were you wearing at the time? Well the resort is great for families and kids .. They run outdoor movies at night on one of the golf courses on the property. I remember we watched “The Good Dynasu” under the stars – that was my highlight memory. I think I was wearing some yellow chino shorts and a Tee…. I to dress like a retired , geratric banker while on vacation…. It is vacation after all!
Who do you follow on Instagram for style inspiration? Marcel Floruss @marcelfloruss, Aaron Cordell @imaketrends and a great Irish kid called Lawson Mpame @lawsofstyle
If you were a car what would you be? Not sure what car I would be…… but I know what car I’d love to be. The Porsche 911 has been the object of my obsession since I was 6 years old. I usually hire one when out here in LA. I drive a BMW at home in Dublin, but as soon as I hit my mid-life crisis I’m going to run out and buy a red convertible one!
If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner who would you invite and why? It would have to be Tom Ford (I did mention my man crush right?)…… I think he is probably the guy with best style on planet Earth. But its not even his clothes design’s … his store design, marketing, advertising and business vision is flawless in my option.
Fill in the blanks regarding your closet!
The last thing I bought online was a pair of Tod’s drivers, but I prefer to shop at an actual store to get chance to touch and feel the fabric and texture of shoes and clothes.
I spent too much money on suits but saved a lot of money on casual clothes.
I would love to be on the cover of this magazine Entrepreneur and wear this my lucky blue suit I told you about.
I wear this fragrance Oud Wood by Tom Ford but I love smelling this fragrance on someone else Neroli Portofino.
